Professor Kwasi Torpey is Associate Professor of Family Health, Public Health Physician, HIV Clinician, Program Manager and Researcher with extensive experience in implementation of HIV programs in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia as well as working with USAID, CDC, DFID, World Bank, Global Fund and other donors. He is Head of Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health in the University of Ghana College of Health Sciences. He served as Deputy Chief of Party, Technical for Family Health International’s Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services. He was technical lead in designing and implementing the START program which introduced public sector ART in Ghana. He was Director of Technical Support in FHI’s Zambia Prevention Care and Treatment Partnership. He has published several scientific articles in international peer reviewed journals on HIV prevention, care and treatment.He is the first recipient of the Dr David Barry Memorial Award for Outstanding contribution to AIDS Treatment Program. He has a PhD from the Institute of Tropical Medicine and the University of Antwerp in Belgium, an MPH from the Netherlands School of Public Health and MD from the University of Ghana Medical School. He is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
