Dr. Corine Karema is the Director of Malaria & Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) at Quality & Equity Healthcare, a globally recognized public health specialist, and a seasoned malaria expert. With over two decades of experience, she has played a pivotal role in malaria control and elimination efforts across Africa and beyond.
She previously served as Director of Rwanda’s National Malaria & NTDs Control Program for over ten years, shaping national strategies and policies. Her leadership extends to global health organizations, including ALMA, the Global Fund, the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, and the End Malaria Council. She currently co-chairs the PAMCA Board and serves on the Boards of APLMA and VillageReach’s Advocacy Leadership Circle.
As a trusted technical advisor to WHO, the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, the Global Fund, the Gates Foundation, and UCSF’s Malaria Elimination Initiative, she has contributed significantly to global malaria policy, drug resistance containment, and the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016-2030. A Lancet Commission on Malaria Eradication member, she co-authored the first comprehensive report on malaria eradication.
Dr. Karema holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Rwanda and has published extensively on malaria and health in Africa. She is passionate about strengthening leadership and technical expertise in African health institutions.
