Dr. Nomathemba Chandiwana is a clinician-scientist and Principal Scientist at Ezintsha, a research institute of the University of the Witwatersrand. She has an active interest in the field of HIV treatment optimisation in less-resourced settings through leading investigator-initiated clinical trials, and the provision of policy and clinical expertise. Her research work is focused on investigating better, safer, and cost-effective antiretroviral treatment options for people with HIV, particularly for women who represent the majority of people with HIV in Africa. Recently work has been on research and advocacy into health concerns beyond HIV such as obesity, and obstructive sleep apnoea. She provides leadership and expert knowledge to several local and international policy forums.
