Charles Kouanfack

Prof. Charles Kouanfack is an Associate Professor of public health and epidemiology at the University of Dschang, Cameroon, head of day care unit at Yaoundé central hospital,  a technical and scientific coordinator of Centre for Research on Emerging and Reemerging Diseases (CREMER), and a member of national ethics committee. Prof. Kouanfack dedicated his research career to HIV research. His goal is to see People Living With HIV (PLWH) spared from the effects of HIV infection. To this end, as PI and co-investigator in several studies, Prof. Kouanfack has studied the effectiveness and safety of several combined antiretroviral therapy molecules such as Nevirapine, Lamivudine, Stavudine, and low dose Effavirez and Dolutegravir ART regimens. To push the adherence of PLWH to ART in Cameroon, the results of this research and his experience in HIV care have earned him to be a consultant for UNAIDS on several projects related to HIV/AIDS, the development of the Operational Plan for Adult and Pediatric Care for PLHIV, and the development of the strategic plan for the fight against AIDS in Cameroon. Prof. Kouanfack has also been involved in several studies monitoring ART drug resistance and the burden of coinfections to viral hepatitis.  Prof. Kouanfack is currently involved in several research projects as a PI.
